About North Glamorgan Lodge
The North Glamorgan Lodge No: 4055
In the early part of the 20th Century, there was only one Regular Freemasons Lodge in Merthyr Tydfil, which was the Loyal Cambrian Lodge No: 110, established in 1810. Detailed discussions took place within that lodge to establish the possibility of creating an additional lodge. After a few years this did occur, when the North Glamorgan Lodge No: 4055 came into existence as the daughter lodge of Loyal Cambrian Lodge No: 110.
The North Glamorgan Lodge No: 4055 got its name due to it being established in the North of the old County of Glamorgan, and its proximity to the remains of Morlais Castle, from which the Lodge crest is derived. The Lodge number 4055 is that recorded in the Register of the United Grand Lodge of England.
The North Glamorgan Lodge’s warrant was issued by the United Grand Lodge of England on the 14th January 1920 and the lodge was consecrated later the same year on Thursday July 22nd 1920.
The North Glamorgan Lodge No: 4055 is in the South Wales Province, under the leadership of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master,
